Waiting

I started cooperating with Pinakoteka in 2012. Joanna Jasińska – my friend and the founder of the group asked me to translate the Polish poems written by Marzena Kowalska into English. She had used the poems in her songs. I accepted her proposal and it was the beginning of our fruitful cooperation. So far we have made a few songs together. “Waiting” is one of them.

Waiting

Waiting is not so trivial
Though it can be silly
(I) do it willy-nilly
I can read dusty – forgotten letters
do the things – that don’t matter
I can – sew a dress or sweater
count the number of – rose petals
I can watch – a bee fly slowly
(It’s) so lovely – so jolly

Chorus:

Longing an’ waiting an’
missing you as ever
once apart – once together
Waiting an’ longing an’
yearning more than ever
worshipping mem’ries
and moments lost forever …

Waiting is not so trivial
Though it can be silly
(I) do it willy-nilly
Sometimes I fall – asleep oh so sweetly
arranging – my thoughts so neatly
I can stare – long at the ceiling
What a – blissful feeling!
I can say nothing – be quiet …
kill the past – deny it …

Chorus:

Longing an’ waiting an’
missing you as ever
once apart – once together
Waiting an’ longing an’
yearning more than ever
worshipping mem’ries
and moments lost forever …
